With Mother Nature not being very kind to the baseball world lately, the Pirates had a busy week ahead of them beginning on Monday. Chatt Valley had the tall task of a double header versus Southern Union on Monday, a single game turned 14 innings versus Central Alabama on Tuesday and then head into a 3 game set at Wallace-Selma beginning Friday.
Friday’s game with Southern Union has been postponed due to the thunderstorms in the entire state of Alabama. The game is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, with Saturday’s game tentatively scheduled for Monday.
The NJCAA released their Players and Pitchers of the Week on Wednesday and our own, Hunter Mitchell, was the recipient of this weeks national honor.
Two weeks removed from climbing to the NJCAA’s number 2 ranking, the Pirates, after winning 2 out of 3 from Central Alabama on the road, made the jump to # 1 yesterday in the latest NJCAA poll. This is the second time in as many years that CVCC has vaulted to the # 1 spot. Hours later, the Pirates went to work and claimed a 14-2 win over the Patriots from Wallace-Selma.
In a matchup of two powerhouse programs, the Chattahoochee Valley Pirates went into a tough environment in Alexander City, Alabama and walked away with a 2 out of 3 series win over the Trojans from Central Alabama.
